Mr. Podlesak has served as our Chairman since January 2008. Mr. Podlesak is a partner with Domain Associates, L.L.C., a private venture capital management firm focused on life sciences. Prior to Domain, Mr. Podlesak was a founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Cerexa Pharmaceuticals, which became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Forest Laboratories after Mr. Podlesak led the growth and sale of the company to Forest in January 2007. Prior to Cerexa, Mr. Podlesak was the Chief Executive Officer of Peninsula Pharmaceuticals and led the sale of Peninsula to Johnson & Johnson in June 2005.
Mr. Podlesak has over 20 years of strategic, operational and commercial experience within the pharmaceutical industry, and a track record of success growing companies and leading business development & licensing, financing and M&A initiatives. Prior to Peninsula, Mr. Podlesak served as Senior Vice President and Head of a North American Business Unit for Novartis AG and as a member of Novartis' Pharmaceutical Executive Committee and Global Leadership Team. Earlier in his career, Mr. Podlesak served as Vice President and Head of the CEC division of Allergan, Inc. and as member of Allergan's North American and Global Management Team. Mr. Podlesak spent the first ten years of his career with SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline plc) where he was promoted to eight positions of increasing responsibility during his tenure with the company.
Mr. Podlesak currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Corthera, Inc. and Regado Biosciences, and is a Board member of Avanir Pharmaceuticals, Dov Pharmaceuticals, and the non-profit organization Prevent Blindness. Mr. Podlesak received his B.A. from Western Illinois University and an M.B.A. degree from Pepperdine University.

Mr. Dovey is a managing member of Domain Associates, L.L.C., a private venture capital management firm focused on life sciences, and has served in this capacity with the firm since 1988. He has served as chairman of three companies and on the board of directors of approximately 30 additional companies, including Align Technology, Inc. and Cardiac Science, Inc. Mr. Dovey currently serves on the board of Neose Technologies, Inc., a publicly traded company. Prior to joining Domain, Mr. Dovey spent six years at Rorer Group, Inc. (now Aventis), including as president from 1986 to 1988. Previously, he was president of Survival Technology, Inc., a start-up medical products company. He also held management positions with Howmedica, Inc., Howmet Corporation, and New York Telephone.
Mr. Dovey has served as both president and chairman of the National Venture Capital Association. He is Chair of the Wistar Institute, a non-profit preclinical biomedical research company. Mr. Dovey is also Co-Dean of the Kauffman Fellows Program at the Center for Venture Education. Mr. Dovey received his B.A. from Colgate University and an M.B.A. degree from the Harvard Business School.

Sears Capital Management, Inc.
Mr. Sears is Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Officer of Sears Capital Management, Inc. Mr. Sears has been a venture investor and portfolio manager through Sears Capital Management since 1994. From 1988 until 1994, Mr. Sears was Chief Financial Officer of Amgen, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company. In addition to his role as CFO with Amgen, Mr. Sears also held the position of Senior Vice President responsible for the Asia Pacific Region, establishing marketing, sales, and development operations in Japan, China and other countries from 1992 through 1994. From 1986 until 1988 Mr. Sears served as Treasurer and Director of Planning for Amgen. Before joining Amgen, Mr. Sears held senior planning and financial positions with Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) from 1976 until 1986, including a period as Chief Financial Officer for its Ventures Division.
Mr. Sears has been an active participant in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries since 1979. Mr. Sears holds a B.A. in economics from Claremont McKenna College and an M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Stack joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 2003. Dr. Stack specializes in the development of life science companies. She was the founding CEO and is currently a board member of several companies including CardioDx, Nodality, and an incubation in the personalized medicine area. She is a board observer at Codon Devices, XDx, Orexigen (OREX), Tethys, and Pacific Biosciences. Prior to joining KPCB, Dr. Stack was a Principal at J.P. Morgan Partners in the life science practice for 6 years. While at J.P. Morgan Partners she sponsored a series of investments including Acurian, AlgoRx (now Anesiva), Connetics, Diatide, Ilex Oncology, Illumina, Praecis Pharmaceuticals and Triangle Pharmaceuticals.
Prior to working in the venture capital industry, Dr. Stack worked as a Derivative Specialist on the Chicago Board of Trade where she traded futures and options on government securities. As an intern at ARCH Development Corporation she participated in the development of several companies based on the research of University of Chicago scientists. At Abbott Laboratories, she worked to develop a new Hepatitis C assay system and researched new procedures for evaluating patient samples for HIV and Hepatitis B. Dr. Stack received her B.S. in Genetics and Development with distinction from the University of Illinois and her Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Chicago. She was also a member of the second class of Kauffman Fellows. Dr. Stack was named as one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Business by the San Francisco Business Times in 2004.

President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Abel joined Corthera as President and Chief Executive Officer in November 2007, bringing to the company more than 18 years of operational, development and financial management experience. Prior to joining Corthera, Mr. Abel served as the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Business Development at Cerexa, Inc. from its inception in July 2005 through the successful sale of the company to Forest Laboratories in January 2007. At Cerexa Mr. Abel had responsibility for financial operations‚ treasury‚ and capital raising activities‚ as well as leading the company’s business development efforts. Mr. Abel played a key role in the sale of the company to Forest, which represented one of the largest private biotech acquisitions in recent years.
Prior to Cerexa‚ Mr. Abel was the Chief Financial Officer of Peninsula Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from January 2003 through the sale of the company to Johnson & Johnson in June 2005. Mr. Abel was responsible for all financial activities of the company, raising over $70M in private financing and leading the company through the initial public offering process. Mr. Abel also played a key role in structuring the spin-out of Cerexa and the acquisition of Peninsula by Johnson & Johnson.
Earlier in his career‚ Mr. Abel spent four years at Eli Lilly and Company within the finance and strategy organizations. He gained extensive valuation and negotiation experience while in Lilly’s Corporate Finance and Investment Banking group and played the lead financial role on many business development transactions. While in Lilly’s strategic planning group, Mr. Abel developed and implemented global strategies for their $2 billion diabetes franchise and led several product and technology licensing transactions for the Endocrine Therapeutic Area. Mr. Abel also held a variety of financial leadership positions during his nine years at DowBrands‚ Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company. He received a B.S. in business from Indiana University and an M.B.A.‚ with honors‚ from the University of Chicago. He received his CPA from the state of Indiana in 1995.
